NJ Boating Safety Certificate
Who needs a NJ Boating Safety Certificate?
If you were born in 1949 and later and operate a power boat in NJ, you will need a NJ Boating Safety Certificate by June 1, 2008 - OR - if you operate a waverunner in NJ regardless of your age, you need a NJ Boating Safety Certificate now.
There are one day eight hour courses available that satisfy the NJ Boating Safety requirement. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be issued a temporary NJ Boating Safety Certificate. It will take a few months to get the original certificate from the State of NJ, but your temporary certificate will be legal in the interim!

This Public Boat Ramp Is ONLY 3 MILES FROM LORRY'S on Long Beach Island (LBI) and puts your boat into the calm waters of Barnegat Bay and access to the ocean. Go two streets past Fantasy Island Family Amusement Park - make a left on 9th street and go to the bay.
Hours are: 6am - 4pm Memorial Day to Labor Day. All other times are no charge.

LBI Annual Surf Fishing Tournament On LBI, NJ
Since 1955 the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, with generous support from our business community, has sponsored the Long Beach Island Surf Fishing Tournament.
More than 1,000 anglers register each year. During the six-week fall tournament, anglers weigh in striped bass and bluefish to compete for thousands of dollars of tournament-sponsored daily, weekly, segment, and grand prizes. In addition, there are prizes and awards presented by businesses, fishing clubs, and Long Beach Island Surf Fishing Tournament participants and supporters.
A highlight of the tournament is the annual free "Super Surf Casting Seminar," traditionally held the second Saturday of the tournament. We meet at the Chamber of Commerce on 9th Street in Ship Bottom for coffee and bagels, then gather on the beach at 9th Street in Ship Bottom where the members of the Surf City Anglers, a local fishing club, generously share their knowledge about surf fishing equipment, surf casting, bait, 4-wheel drive vehicles on the beach, and much more.
Registrations for the tournament are on sale at the Chamber of Commerce, open Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm. The registrations are also on sale at the weigh-in stations.
The first 1,000 registered anglers receive A LBI Surf Fishing Tournament hat.
A free exterior carwash coupon presented by Manahawkin Magic Wash (The value of the 1,000 coupons totals $ 8,000).
A coupon for a free slice of Panzone's Cheese Pizza, presented by Panzone's Pizza, Surf City (the value of the 100 coupons totals $ 2,500).
An LBI Surf Fishing Tournament Tradition: In addition to the prizes and awards presented by the Long Beach Island Surf Fishing Tournament, there are thousands of $$$ in special prizes presented by businesses, fishing clubs, and tournament participants and supporters.

Sea Shell Beach Club's Annual Striped Bass Derby

Every October on Long Beach Island, many of the best striped bass anglers on the East Coast sign up their boats and crews to compete in LBI's final fishing tournament of the season. Our weekend-long competition benefits local charities such as Beach Haven Volunteer First Aid Squad, The LBI Community Activities Center in Beach Haven and the LBI Museum. In previous years, the Tourney raised $14,000 for the First Aid Squad.
The Sea Shell's club, motel and restaurant provides everything needed on site, except of course for the bass. Other year's proceeds have gone to benefit The Beach Haven Volunteer Fire Department. Besides great fishing, we offer plenty of social activities such as banquets, cocktail parties and the Grand Awards Banquet & Family Fish Fry on Sunday. As well as, deluxe accommodations at our oceanfront motel.
